Mike Sullivan, Executive Director
Our Executive Director is Mike Sullivan. Mike brings a variety of experience in formal education, outdoor exploration, and experiential learning to Cottonwood Gulch. He recently moved to Albuquerque from Washington D.C., where he was a middle school teacher, a museum educator, and the director of a youth ecovillage program. He earned a B.A. in Anthropology from Amherst College in 2000 and a M.A. in Public Anthropology from American University in 2008. Mike has worked at the Gulch as a naturalist, anthropologist, and group leader under two Executive Directors and he is thrilled to be with the Foundation full-time. Mike enjoys surfing, soccer, ice hockey, handstands, and playing the drums loudly. He is married to longtime Trekker Sidsel Overgaard, whose relatives have been with the Gulch since 1938. Mike and Sidsel are originally from Penn Yan, New York and have enjoyed living in Brooklyn, Honduras and Denmark before moving to magical New Mexico. Mike can be reached at mike@cottonwoodgulch.org |
